The Academic Book of the Future by Rebecca E. Lyons

This book is open access under a CC-BY licence. What makes a book ‘academic’? What spaces, physical and digital, can they be found in? How are they made, bought, and read? These questions are tackled by a cross-section of thirteen experts from the fields of bookselling, publishing, university libraries, and academic research in this volume of essays, which was produced in conjunction with the team from the AHRC/British Library Academic Book of the Future Project as an accelerated publishing challenge for the first ever Academic Book Week. The topics include campus bookshops and bookselling, the role of national libraries, Open Access, the Research Excellence Framework, and publishing innovation. The approaches explore the realities of the present and venture all the way through to possible futures. There is something here for everyone who is connected to academic books – however these are defined, and whatever shape they are read in.

From, A Homosexual Hazard: An Episodic Play by Edwin Betancourt

I was inspired to write this book of monologues and scenes after reading “The Vagina Monologues” by Eve Ensler and seeing a performance of it during my years in college. I was riveted by the monologues and dialogues performed by the talented cast of artists, and I went home that night wondering why there wasn’t something similar for and about Gay men.Living in a society where Gays are seen as being Hazards and ‘abominations’, it isn’t easy getting our stories across without being shot down. I have tried for years to get this play up and running but sadly, it’s come to no avail, which is why I have decided to publish it in Ebook and Paperback formats. The six main characters all live in NYC and are from different walks of life all struggling with their own issues while having one thing in common: they’re proud Homosexuals! The topics discussed in this book are: Love, Death, Suicide, Marriage, Dating, Body Confidence, portrayals of Gay characters in TV shows and many more. Without further ado, I present to you From, A Homosexual Hazard! If you’re a fan of reading or performing Plays then you’d definitely love this book!
